Love at First Sight...

.

My first encounter with Suno NY, by Max Osterweis,

was when I read an *article in the New York Times,

way back in February, about him and his use of kanga and

african print...

I love, love, love his modern take on vintage prints
with stunning effects...

.

.

- lots of mixing and matching, clashing and more clashing,
and some african print thrown in for good measure...

Parfois...

Sometimes i love to cook,
and sometimes i love to watch

Sometimes i just want to hide under my quilt
and sometimes i want to leap out from under my quilt...

Sometimes i want to be with lots of people,
and sometimes i just want to see noone and be alone

Sometimes i think outside the box,
and sometimes i don't know how to do otherwise

Sometimes i think i can,
and sometimes i know i can...

Sometimes I want to escape for a day...
but I always want to come back!

Sometimes I forget how lucky I am.

Do you have a sometimes?

Dreaming is just about all I have time for at the moment, other than work,
hopefully I'll be back posting a little more regualarly and
catching with your delightful blogs soon...

My Style...

.

The concept of true style is mind-boggling to one and all.

Even if we try to dissect it,

we never come anywhere close to actually attaining it.

The majority of us think it's just a matter of buying the latest,

freshest clothes on the racks and copying exactly what the mannequins

are wearing...

Of course, it isn't, and never has been, about copying others,

whoever they may be...

I love this definition of style by Gore Vidal

“Style is knowing who you are, what you want to say,
and not giving a damn.”
.

What is your definition of style?

.

by Citroën Guy
.

I had a blue convertible one when I was a student in London and

travelled the length and breadth of the UK

and Europe - slowly but surely

(they're surprisingly robust)

.

A friend of mine calls it a "marmite car", i.e

you either it love or hate it !

.

See here

for a fun video which is well worth watching for a laugh...

.

I'd love to know what you think...

Sailing into the Sunset...

.

well, not exactly, as we'll be leaving at dawn, but

I thought it sounded good...

.

via JJJJound

.

We're taking a break

- off sailing for the week -

à bientôt!

Who? Me?...

.

5. I have an incredible amount of patience for some things,

and absolutely none for others...

.

4. I love the aroma of freshly ground coffee...

.

3. I have a special, unshakable, deep-rooted love

for Paris...

.

2. I don't like people with no sense of humour,

I've no idea how to

relate to them;

I find they take themselves too seriously...

.

1. I’m more interested in ideas than what other people
are doing in their (private) lives...

A Happier World...

.

Image: Côté Sud

.

If every life learned to share

A happier world we would have

We could share our lives

And share our thoughts

Without any kind of recrimination

We could share our love

With all the strangers

That may come our way

Around the world

Making new friends wherever we go

If sharing was not just a dream

Paradise at our feet

Would unfold

There would be no more poverty

For every crust of bread, we’d share

We can only dream that one day

Many hearts will beat as one

Many minds will think alike

No more terrors will strike discord
And sharing will become the word

Tell Me...

.
Do you blog everything you'd like to,
or do you *censor yourself?
.

via Remodalista
.

Are there times you start to write something

and then think, nah, not gonna write that?

.

I do, I sit down to write and I find myself

picking and choosing so carefully that I just give up.

This frustrates me.

I don't like it but I have learned the hard way

to be careful.

I won't go into it.

Let's just say once your privacy has been invaded

in an extremely unpleasant way, you learn to exercise caution.

..

I quite frequently come up with great blog posts

on my way to work and then of course once I'm back home,

poof...

they've either left my head or I simply think better of it.

Maybe with time this will change.

Maybe not. Only time will tell.

Definition of censor :

Verb : to ban or cut portions of

(a film, letter, or publication)

A Great Week...

.

was had by all...

.

Because we had family and friends here...

Because it's Spring and the weather is beautiful and warm

and hopefully going stay this way...
Because we spent the entire week out and about...

.
.

Because the girls were on school holidays and were

on their best behaviour all week...

Because I'm feeling particularly loved and cherished by

my "better half"

(a bit corny but it's true..!)

.
Because I'm well and truly back on my feet
- no more back pain....
Because I was off work all week...
.

.
Because I love nothing more than spending quality time with

my family and friends...

.
I hope you had a great week, too...

Vintage Beachwear...

.

I know it's only April,

but I'm already dreaming of long, hot, lazy days

spent on, and by, the sea...

A trip the beach

doesn’t have to mean leaving style at home....

Don't you just love these vintage bathing suits?

If anyone out there knows where I can

buy vintage (or vintage inspired)

swimwear,

Please let me know...

MERCI in Paris...

.

is a new concept store like no other that I just know

you’ll all love...

.

.

When I popped by whilst in Paris, I found the

layout more reminiscent of a house than a department store,

which I loved...
.

.

MERCI sells a variety of products both of contemporary design

and second-hand;

on offer are contempory and vintage fashions,

a hardware section with beautiful everyday objects,

a florist, a perfume corner, a Used Book Café

with new and second-hand books

and a "Cantina"...

.

.

Last, but by no means least, Merci participates in a
philanthropic project whereby
all the profits go to help deprived children in Madagascar..
.

.. MERCI is to be found at
111, boulevard Beaumarchais
75003 Paris
which is in the Haut Marais district in the heart of Paris
.
an internet site will be online soon...

Being Thankful...

.

Be thankful that you don't already have everything you desire,
If you did, what would there be to look forward to?

.

My photos: Cuba, Sri lanka, Ghana, Mauritius, St Tropez

.

Be thankful when you don't know something

For it gives you the opportunity to learn.

Be thankful for the difficult times.

During those times you grow.

Be thankful for your limitations

Because they give you opportunities for improvement.

Be thankful for each new challenge

Because it will build your strength and character.

Be thankful for your mistakes

They will teach you valuable lessons.

Be thankful when you're tired and weary

Because it means you've made a difference.

It is easy to be thankful for the good things.

A life of rich fulfillment comes to those who are

also thankful for the setbacks.

GRATITUDE

can turn a negative into a positive.

Find a way to be thankful for your troubles

and they can become your blessings.

Yours Truly...

.
° When I was 12, I was in a car accident that, by all laws of physics,

should have killed me.

I still don’t know how I survived.

.

° I seem unable to work unless I am surrounded by clutter.

If I file things away neatly, I immediately

lose them.

If I stack them up in big teetering piles, I somehow know

where everything is.

.

° My heart still breaks much more easily than it should.
It doesn’t take much.
I keep waiting for it to toughen up a little bit,

but it never does!
.

° If there is one thing I can't tolerate, it's gossip.

I have no interest whatsoever in the private details of

other people's lives, famous or not...

.

° I think of my blog as a hobby; a place for me to play

and share things that I like.

Its completely different from what I do

"in real life"...

What I'm loving in the images below from the TOAST

online catalogue:

.

~ the merest hint of blue on the fluffy white bath towels

~ the flooring made of tiny pebblestones

.

.

~ the pale blue near-seethrough curtains

~ the plain and simple bed linen, white bedside lamps and

stripped wooden floorboards

.

.
~ the Xtra large old rustic mirror and, last ,but not least,

all those beautiful straw hats!
.

~ the rustic setting of all these images in what looks
rather like an old fisherman's cottage in the Greek islands
