Personal Style...

.
It wasn't until I'd been collecting favourite home interior
photos for quite a while that I started to see
some common elements...
Of course, that's why professional decorators advise clients to start
clipping photos of favourite home interiors before they even think
about decorating their own home.
It's true that when you spend time finding what you like,
you end up being able to separate your own taste
from the trends you see around you...
.
Here are just a few of the many elements that have emerged
over the years in my personal collection...
.
quirky, unfitted kitchens; solid stone sinks, antique cookers and
linen curtains instead of cupboard doors...
Vogue June 2004
.
extra large mirrors,
bare wooden floorboards and stunning leather pouffs...

..antique leather Club armchair, mis-matched bric-a-brac,
book-lined walls...

  1. Hello, thank you for your comment on my blog, and thank you for stopping by.

I'm glad I discovered yours as a result, the photograps are stunning and I totally agree on the question of taste - we need to spend time to discover what we really like and then we can distinguish our style from others...

I love your post from 28th January. Beautiful poem... great photo - is that you?

    I'll be coming back!

  2. Thanks for popping by and leaving such kind words.
The poem you refer to (posted 28/01/09), is not by me, but by the extremely talented young Nigerian lady whose name I mention in the post. Having said that, had I the talent she has; I could have written those same words - as a free spirit who does not fit neatly into a category, I can so so, so relate to what she writes about...
